So You're Engaged! Now What?

First of all, congratulations! You are about to embark on such an exciting journey! If you're planning to host a traditional wedding day, this may be the first event you've ever thrown, and even small weddings can end up being a lot of work. When you start making a list of all the things to consider, it can get overwhelming very quickly!

A lot of the smaller details will come together as little as a month or even a week before the big day, but there are some things that shouldn't wait. Here are the top 5 things you should do first:

Set Your Budget

This is the most important thing if you want to get married without going into debt! The average wedding in the United States costs about $33K, and the average wedding in Tennessee costs around $19K. If your budget needs to be below that range, make sure you know that before shopping around, and decide approximately how much of that budget will go towards what. This way, you can easily rule out venues and vendors that are outside of your budget, resulting in less wasted time and disappointment for you!

Pick Your Venue & Date

As a professional venue, we really can’t stress this one enough! The day doesn’t happen without a location, after all, and most venues stay booked about a year in advance. As exciting as it may be to dive into things like cakes and dresses, the most important thing to look for first is the venue. If you’re looking for an affordable outdoor venue near Murfreesboro, TN, come meet us at FiveSense Farm!

Hire Your Photographer

Of all the vendors you have on your big day, your photographer will be the one capturing memories that will last forever. You want to give yourself enough time to research photographers who suit your style and budget! Like venues, photographers can book up pretty quickly, especially if you’re getting married in the spring or fall.

Research Other Vendors

Once you’ve chosen your photographer, it’s time to start looking at and booking your baker, caterer, DJ, officiant, musicians, and anyone else who will be helping host your big day!

The Dress!

Our favorite part! Once you’ve nailed down your venue and photographer, and are getting quotes from other vendors, it’s finally a reasonable time to start dress shopping! We recommend waiting no later than 6 months out, so your boutique will have plenty of time to order a custom fit, and you can complete any alterations you may need without worrying about a tight deadline or expedited fees.
